Zainab-12 and Qamar Gul-9, the two orphans were identified by the AWRC Community Mobilizers in December 2003. These two girls live with their uncle. Their uncle himself has four children of his own. He works as a day labor therefore, has a very poor living condition.

Zainab and Qamar Gul were been sent house to house for begging and they had to bring food or money in the evening when they were back home. They seemed thin, rough and innocent at the first look.

Women for women International (W4WI)- the organization providing sponsorship programs for vulnerable women asked AWRC to introduce very vulnerable women accessed or being accessed the WCRC so far. Among the 250 women introduced, Zainab and Qamar Gul were also introduced to them, which was an exception as they were not women but young children.

W4WI accepted to sponsor these girls too, and AWRC offered to take the responsibility of them. Accordingly, the girls live in AWRC/WCRC during the day since December 2002 till now.

• Necessary clothing’s, stationery and space were provided to them during the day.
• They were admitted to the winter schools in order to make them prepare for the New Year schooling.
• They were admitted to grade one for the new year
• Lunch is offered after they come back from school
• Assistance is being provided in doing their homework’s
• In the afternoons they sit in AWRC embroidery and tailoring course for skill training
• Now they are attending winter courses and are doing preparations for the new coming school time (grade 2).

  Significant changes are made in their lives. The tiresome look in their eyes is no more. They laugh, they play and study as other normal children. AWRC is very pleased that could contribute in serving at least two children and help them live normally.
